Go ahead and add my team to this category.

My team is just awful right now. We just can't win a game this month. Pitching is bad, lineup has gone downhill, nothing positive to say really.

I thought we might hang out around .500 the way the first couple months went, but when things go bad they can really go south fast. We're headed for 100+ losses.

Hey, wait a second. No we don't. It's like 180 degrees different from that actually. Thanks for the pep talk!

More proof why paying for a pen is stupid (oh, yea, 1992 Denver knew that but you do stupid things when you have money to spend).

My starters are awful. Awful. Yet, we have the 4th best bullpen ERA. How? Those same guys have been promoted to the rotation only to suck up there. It's nice what a pitcher can do for one inning.

Yeah, I thought that's why you were trying to cheer me up by making me feel better that I don't have your rotation. Maybe I read too much into it.

I don't know. I don't regret spending the money on McSwain. He's been fantastic this season, more than I could have hoped for. Blanche has been ok, nothing special. Other than those two I'm pretty much trotting out minimum salary guys.

Hopefully in the next 10 seasons I'll be able to field a .500 team, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

1 game out! Been a solid if not unspectacular month. Our entire goal has been to be within striking distance when our HOF's get off the DL. Hoping each has one good month left in the tank. Hell if one of 'em does it'll help.

Bullpen has been getting better and better. MR Angelo Gonzles has been our unsung hero. Dude plays in close to 100 games a year and is always asked to put in 2-3 innings when the starter fails which is quite often.

We continue to get hot and cold performances by Williams, Perez, and Robinson. Offense seems to pick eachother up just enough when needed. One guy slumps, the other guy who was slumping has a good week. Just wanna be close end of August then take our shot.

Are any of the contenders making moves? Seems like there are a lot of sellers at the deadlines but no buyers...we need buyers!

Since the introduction of the feeder leagues, people are going to be much less likely to give away those high picks. Draft isn't as much of a crap shoot early.

That is, it isn't as much of a crap shoot as it used to be unless,

                  you manage the Slammers' organization.

Being a buyer it seems the opposite to me. Other than Hartford, Hyundai and you (who I made a deal with) I have not seen or heard from many other sellers. I have been searching desperatly. Have even tried to start talks with a few I assumed were selling based on record and either did not hear back or it was made clear they were not interested in moving guys. Just my take from the buying side.

There are buyers, but most are pressed close to the salary cap.

I haven't talked to Clay, but, I don't think prices are too high - really, the market sets the price. Most folks, myself included, are just being cheap asses. From a buyers perspective, I've inquired about a few guys that I wasn't willing to come close on what they eventually went for. So, was the price too high? No, I was just cheap.

From a sellers point of view, at some point it just makes more sense to keep a guy than to give him up for a late rounder, especially if he's not in a contract year and/or 37 years old. But that's just me.
