Trading Beanpole to move up to 1.1 was a strategy to land Owens. I even told Wilmington that after the fact.

Given the way I run my organization, I probably wouldn't have taken a first baseman with the first pick.
However Owens's talent is clear and I can't argue against the pick.
He looks like he could be Rex Morgan or Dani Alvarez come again.
A left-handed version, which may be even more valuable in Toronto's park.
Or he ends up being a bum. #CurseoftheFurryPigs

But no, he wouldn't have lasted until 1.10. I thought he'd go about 1.5-1.8.

Interesting.
I didn't expect that to happen. He was one of the two guys I was hoping to trade up to.

With the 1st pick in the 2014 BLB Draft, the Toronto Canadians select 1B/DH Dylan Owens (Blessed Sacrament Knights).
This was a tough pick to make. I've been watching Owens for a while. It wasn't an easy decision for me because my scout doesn't seem to like him. I'm relying on OSA here. We are hoping the combination of his high work ethic and our investment in player development will help him achieve those OSA ratings.

I've got 1.15, 1.19, 1.20, and 1.23 this year. Depending on how high we can move up, we're interested in moving a couple of these picks. Probably looking to get to the Top 7. Definitely above Matt. He'll pick the players I want for sure.
PM me if you are interested.Last edited by Delandis; 11-08-2015, 07:48 AM.

Well it figures to be a pretty boring draft here. I know I traded our second round pick, the first was traded before me. Hopefully I'll be able to find some good value when we do finally get on the clock.
