I don't have a pick in the first five rounds this year.

In most other drafts, I'd find myself feeling regretful.

    This time, not so much.

Oh shit. That Sawyer guy followed up his 41 game hitting streak with a 21? And the streak ended on a game that was a 1-hitter?

    That’s a steal.

    You’ve gone soft.

    That’s what she said.

    Pawtucket 2nd round:

2.9 - 3B J.R. Walling. Not thrilled about the 7 week injury that just happened, but his talent was to much to pass up on. 6-6-7-5-7 POT with OSA a 6-6-6-5-4. Solid defensive 3B with perhaps some ability SS and LF. His stats showed improvement in his 2nd year at Oklahoma. Were actually lack 3B talent at the lower levels , least with this kind of upside.

2.11- CF Tommy 'Coffin' Jenkins. My scout had this kid going in mid 1st round, but a pitching run began right around that time so he slipped for enough where it feels like a great value pick. Durable CF are hard to come by...and he might not stay there. Could swing him to the IF depending and our teams need. Scout is at 5-6-6-6-6 POT and OSA coming in lower, but a respectable 5-5-6-5-6. Chopping 2nd season at Harwich a concern, but first season was a small sample size. Looks like he can hit for some power, some gap, even a few triples.

2.20 SP- Dusty 'Crash Test' Fontana. And the swing for the fences. Lefty High Schooler who just came off a 13 month injury. Luckily, our doctor does a great job at managing arms. He could very easily just become a bullpen arm as his changeup and barely developed and could easily fall off. Still scout has him at 6-6-8 and OSA 7-6-6 including a possible two plus pitches. Throwing 96-98 as a 17 year old is pretty rare also since at the high school ranks you have to sit there and hope sometimes. Worst case, we got ourselves a future setup kid.

Just as in round 1, the Bats had back-to-back picks at 2.24 and 2.25. With those selections, we've gone with...

2.24 - SS Dave Taylor - Great defensive versatility. I think he's a shortstop for sure, but he can player anywhere. At the plate, I like the contact and on-base abilities, and he should be able to hit well if it works out. Very good baserunner as well.

2.25 - RP D'Andre Gulley - Looks like a potentially nasty left-handed reliever to me. Has two pretty dominant years as Oklahoma with huge strikeout numbers. Throws in the upper 90's with an awesome cutter. I've had some difficulty finding good lefties in relief - there's not too many out there available, so it'd be great to develop one.

So, with four picks, I've got a SP, RP, CF and SS. Taken players from all of the feeder leagues (2 HS, 1 NCAA, 1 CCL). I like how it's worked out, but only time will tell.

    Just woke up.

    2.19 available for future assets.

Otherwise pick will be in after I can open my eyes fully to read some OSA reports on this spotty WiFi.

I'm bored and still looking to grab another pick in this year's draft. I can offer up next year's 2nd (or any other year) if someone wants to trade out, maybe add a little extra to make it a good deal for anyone who wants to trade out for future picks.
