1988 Draft Discussion

I see Ortiz wants to start over there in Maine.

And we will probably have one season under our belts before the next system comes out.

BTW, I don't know if anyone else is doing this... but I'm treating all starters with two pitches as strictly RP's.

If they develop that third pitch, I'll convert them later... but for right now, anyone with two pitches is a reliever in my eyes.

I'm trying to look at things this way, but the one thing that really scares me about the new system is that MOODS are really going to affected because a lot of RPs now think they want to be starters. I have two high quality reliever that both are now grouchy because they think they should be starters eventhough everything about their makeup says no.

Still a lot to learn about this new system.

BTW - I have to say... I'm really excited about our new Feeder League system. One of the biggest complaints people had in the past was the fact that it was unrealistic in the past because we just had so little information on who we are drafting. I love that not only do we get stats, but we'll get to track them through their league's "Top Player List" and other features that give a generic scouts take on things. I'm excited.

I am too. Between feeders and the new pitching system it introduces a ton of new strategy to the draft.

Can you purposefully "make" your players develop that third pitch they need to be a starter in the BLB?

I'm no expert, but I don't think so. There's stuff that goes on behind the scenes, but in the end there is a bit of randomness to it (from what I've read).

Me too. I hadn't thought of the Top Player Lists, though. That's tight.

I see both the slamdunk SP and the Rex Knight clone. Besides them, this draft is pretty weak.

Oh, I see the guy they are referring to... but I don't see them as high. But, keep in mind I saw Wilkerson and Pancho Herrerra as 8-8-8 prospects. Knight was similar. I see two high end guys, but not nearly as high.

Ok, good. I thought it was just me. I'm sure there are going to be some real studs to develop, but I don't see that "can't miss" guy on the mound or in the field.
