Its not a trade. I put him on trade waivers and he was claimed. I'm not pulling him back. He's DC bound. I get nothing back.

Ah ok I get it. I've never done one of these deals. I thought if someone claimed they had to make a deal with you. I guess that's just if you pull them back?

Yea, only if you pull back.

This deal makes me sick, by the way, only because Woodbury gets to continue his phenomenal logo inspiring career in Virginia.

            Rules Page:
Teams may claim players in his Trade Waiver thread.

Players are on waivers for 48 hours (real time) after the thread is created.

If no claims are made during that time, they are free to trade him to any team.

If any claims are made in the Trade Waiver thread, the waiving team has another 48 hours to negotiate a trade with the team that claimed the player and had the highest priority (Worst record) at that time.

If no trade is completed within 48 hours (real time) the waiving team can either revoke the waivers or allow the claim to go through and lose him for nothing.

            ---

Like Clay said, the wheels were set in motion once Los Alamos made the claim. I wasn't going to claim O'Hegarty. However, once Clay had the ability to dump the contract, I made the claim. I would have preferred O'Hegarty to stay in Virginia so Clay couldn't re-sign the Doorbell, but if O'Hegarty is changing teams, I'll take him. I actually thought someone with a worse record would claim. Even a non-contender.

I thought the 16ml per year price tag would scare the shit out of everybody in the salary cap era, but live and learn.

Diesel is obviously dead somewhere and Clay reset his password.

I think made a gamble that I wouldn't actually let him walk for nothing. In the end, I think he was trying to block LAM and me. It was calculated risk. However, he should have known just by taking a 5 second look at my system that dumping O'Hegarty (even for nothing in return) likely makes me a contender still for the next three seasons. I have ZERO talent in the OF after Daly. Bringing back Woodbury became a must when I couldn't deal for an OF.

That being said, it's a calculated risk on my part too because (a) I still have to resign Woodbury and (b) I'll still have to shake/trade/not offer arbitration to at least one good size contract next season - most likely Farrell.

All in all... will miss him... wish I could have got something for him.... but if Doorbell reups for two more seasons.... I'm happier than Diesel at a Jr High dance.
