2004 BLB Amateur Draft - Starting Monday 12/2 at 8 AM ET
The utility was stuck on Indy for some reason. Seems to have resolved itself after logging in as commish. I will fix the link for the menu bar at some point today.
Since I don't pick until late in the 3rd, I just started to do a little scouting tonight. One big change that I see, is the scouts (at least mine) FINALLY has the draft list more based on production than the trash I used to see. Guys with 6.78 ERA in college in the Top 75 on the proposed draft list. I don't see a lot of that this year. Sucks that they took away the potential sort now I have to finallly actually do some homework in the middle rounds :)
I'm pretty sure that we'll miss with this 3rd round pick since I only allotted 1M for scouting this year, but from what I see left entering the 3rd, there is still some decent potential left outside of relievers (which I haven't even looked at yet). I'm liking 14.
I get that message when I try to access the draft utility from the dropdown Utilities menu at the top of the page. Instead, I go to Awards, then hit the Draft link at the top of that page.
Went with what I thought was the best SP prospect left on the board with Franklin Loeza. Scout has him at 5-5-6, but the scouting report isn't that glowing... having said that, it was either Loeza or an outfielder. Went with a guy I'm hoping will provide a bit more value in the long term.
Pick is in. Guy I have had near the top of my draft board for the entire 2nd Round, CF Erik Clark. My scout says he is "consensus premium talent," which I guess can't be true otherwise he would have been picked much earlier. But I think he might be a steal. Scout has him 5-7-5-4-5 and plenty of speed.
He is one of only six 17-year-olds in the draft so he is going to be a project but I think he will eventually be a good BLB player.
There is one other player I'm very high on. Would love to trade back into Round Two or the top of Round Three. He will go quick.
