2007 Draft Discussion

Good call. It was 6 impact players and a lot of role players. Overall, think Pawtucket ended the draft with 3 top 100's and some depth.

Now on to the draft I've been waiting for. 11 pitchers on my short list. Not sure I've ever seen this before. Then again there are years I don't draft.

This is the first year I didn't make a manual pick at all. I looked at the CPU selections and I could quite possibly cut my entire 2007 draft class.

Well, we picked the right draft to have traded away our first round pick, something we don't do frequently.

Well, we picked the right draft to have traded away our first round pick, something we don't do frequently.

I didn't have a 1st, 2nd or 3rd going into the draft...and after seeing the pool I felt really good about it.

However, I ended up trading back into the first when I had the opportunity to move a package, including one of my crowded outfielders in Willie Garcia, to Dallas.

I feel good about my selection but he could very easily miss...and Garcia is a proven solid player who is currently on fire and since the trade Dallas has been one of the better DL teams. While my team has noise dived since the trade.

We shall see...

All my picks came off of my list except for the last one, but being a neophyte I suspect my methodology is at least a LITTLE suspect.

Oh, we're done for real?

That seemed pretty quick. Did everybody go auto? This would be the first time I never manually made a pick in a draft.

Really excited to see how the mid first round debuts. Washington doesn't get many early 1st picks and I could have gone a few different ways with the pick.

To finish out the 4th-10th round picks I just used the utility. Hopefully found a late gem...odds are most get cut at the Single-A 25 cut down.

Heh, just added Ryu to my draft list a few hours ago and he went a pick or two before my turn.

A couple of catchers I was interested in went earlier, and I figured I'd better nab one while the goings good. Daniel Aguirre was the highest rated player left on our board.

Like the Cardenas pick. Figured he'd go top of the 3rd.

Best IF left on the board according to my scout. Trying to draft a bit of balance especially since after pick 6 this is basically a role player draft.

At 3.2 we take 17 year old SP Pat "Bumblebee" Tortirici. OSA has him 6-6-6, we have him 5-5-6 with a plus fastball, 61% GB, and nice work ethic and leadership. Obviously, my scout is wrong and so is OSA. He'd be gone by now otherwise. We'll see in 6 years.

Like the Cardenas pick. Figured he'd go top of the 3rd.
