They're not zeroes! Not sure this should be surprising. The bars you see in conscriptor don't tell you their current, although their % developed probably gives you a clue (but not in all cases - look at WR Trent Cerf's GD bar, in Boston!) If Syron weren't 1% developed, he'd have red.

Zeroes are bars that have no green either. Here's how Patrick Whalen looked by the end of his Utah career.

    * I'm comparing Syron to a UDFA Utah quarterback who got cut for a kick holder, so maybe not the most chest-thumping 3rd round pick ever, lol.

Noble's got nice SR! I'd like to import that one Rob, along with his KH. Definitely, let's save this one for a look 5 years down the line.

Feel like Dakota probably got the best QB out of these guys. Definitely wasn't seeing climber in Douglas. As for Chustz, wow, we'll still have to see. What a weird one. What's the cut test say, Shark?

Yeah, 0's before the TC don't mean anything. If they're still 0 afterwards, then they're 0's.

Chustz dropped in cut test from 13/60 to 13/57 by my scout... Bad sign I think.... Damn it... Wasted 1.5 and 1.19, I could Pick Hansen and Grauman anyway, and wait till the next class... Well see what happens in TC, the real truth

The better your scout is, the worse he is at figuring out masked players on your own team.

A lot of players in FOF are masked one way or another, so your scout tends to see creepers on your roster as lower than he would if you cut him, and vice versa: he'll see droppers on your roster higher than the same player in the FA pool or on another team.

It's not 100%, but generally it's a good sign if you cut test a player and you see his OVR and/or/especially POT go up. And bad the other way around (but by no means a death sentence. Wally Burgess on Utah is a dropper, but he's also a 66-rated stud safety so I don't mind).

It's just a way to let you know in which direction a player is unmasking. It's called "test" because the cuts are definitely not meant to actually happen, so please make sure not to pull a Jake and export after cutting your entire draft class

I find it also is useful at clueing you into which bars are coming up or going down. A lot of players will be 'rearrangers' and have high bars that are unmasking downwards, while their other, lower bars, are making their way up.

For example, my rookie center Bucky Hughes has a high run block bar that is coming down, while his low pass block bar is increasing, and the cut test reflects this.

Oh yea, it doesn't really tell you much that rookie changetracker and FA changetrackers don't already.

But sometimes it's nice to know in advance, or maybe you just don't feel like looking up a rookie CT, or maybe their CT is inconclusive.

I cut test every rookie free agent that comes my way so I can cut the riffraff before taking them into camp. Once a long time ago I signed a CB that had 57 potential and something horrendous for his cut test and I kept him anyway...big mistake.

A little window to the past from Ohio, for not put your rookies in the hell before TC is WR Dexter Carman went -1 in cut test and creep +4 in potential after TC... So is just a guide I think. Anyway now he will require a titanium hip so... Is not important at this point

But we can stay talking about a lie. Darrell Revis and the Jets in the real off-season day after day... So we can talk about a damn Test during the OSFL off-season

Or we can talk about the parties in Hawaii and New Jersey Shore!!

Everything is allowed!! Is a free Country babies!!

I don't have enough cash to play find the gem in the rookie bargain bin. All though I thought it was funny the ones I'm interested in all have big offers from Portland who has less cash than me.

Dexter Carman was a case of volatility in rookie CT.

Can't confuse camp movement with unmasking! Rookie training camp movement is often a strong indicator of which way, and how much, a player is unmasking. However, it doesn't determine it.

Carman went -1/-1 in the 29 FA change tracker. In the FA changetracker, there is no volatility and no development, only (some) unmasking. So the -1 is a pretty strong indication that Carman was never a creeper, he just got bumped up thanks to some vol as a rookie.

I think cases where the cut test isn't perfect...maybe an extremely bad scout (Camden??), or let's say, you have a guy going up in some bars and going down in others, but the bars he is going down in are weighted more heavily into the OVR rating. So you see some cut test or CT movement which doesn't tell the whole story.

@Matt - Yeah, I don't see the point in offering multi-year deals to rookies. First, you get on hook for later-year bonus. Second, all free agents prefer shorter deals anyway, all things being equal, so you're not improving your odds of landing the guy (quite the opposite). Third, those rookies are going to end up being restricted free agents in the offseason even if you give them 1-year, so you'd be able to keep them on your team while paying them much less.
