I'd disagree that *everything* hinges on your coaches. They play a part, but I categorically disagree with Hoosier about the impact of game plans as well. Game plans can make an *average* difference of 3ish wins a year, and QuikSand's testing showed that in FOF2K4, affinities could make a difference of >2 wins per year. If both of those things are combined, that's the possibility of turning a 5-11 team into a 10-6 team, just with in-season stuff.

I'm not saying unequivocally that everything hinges on the coaches. It is an area that many people don't really spend time on anyway. We see the players every export but we rarely see the coaches except during staff hiring/firing and training camps. I know they play a part in the gameplanning, but I've gone 36-12 (so far) in two leagues by just taking the coaches recommendations. I've toyed with gameplanning. Last year in the DFL I gameplanned a game where my qb only threw four passes the entire game. We lost by six to a playoff team from another division. I just wanted to see if it could be done.

What I'm trying to do is help people understand that this is a pretty deep game and all factors have to be taken into account.

I've read Quiksands testing, but it was in 2004 version and the verdict is still out on 2007!

      We agree to disagree! 8)

Given that we did a preference draft in which most of us just sort of guessed where to put the sliders --- I'm sure the luck of the draw in the draft probably is still a bigger factor than the coaches
