I feel like splitting round 1 up like that will kill most trading. Why show up for a couple days when your pick will be on day X?
I feel like we're messing with the status quo a bit much in the effort of fairness.
I mean, who cares when then 7th round is? Set a list, if everyone is gone then you'll be autoed. I don't see auto in the 7th being anywhere near a huge deal. So, yeah, 6-7 being on one day is something I'm really up for.
This year, Round 1 was split into 7-8 days. I hope with 4 regular days, it's easier to monitor and would help trading as well as not missing Round 1 picks. If you're not interested in moving, sure, only show up for your day. If you are, you'll know when to be around to contact teams picking that day for a deal.
Alternatively, the old way of doing Round 1 was just to run it until it's done, but that could take anywhere from 1 to 3 days. But it's something to consider.
The CyFL runs Round 1 only for about a week on a 14-hour clock, and that's something to consider, too. Fairness is an important consideration, but not at the expense of keeping GMs engaged, I agree.
As for Rounds 5 to 7, I don't think it has much of an effect on the rest of the schedule. It's just a matter of drafting over the weekend, or wrapping it up sooner. I'm down for wrapping it up sooner, personally -- but either way, we're probably still trying to shoot for Week 1 Reg starting on a Monday.
7.32 is always my favorite pick. I thought I'd be the only team to ever draft a LS... then I look at 5.25 and see jley618 picked a long snapper in the 5th round. What a bummer :)

I think the way the CFL is running the draft is the best way. Also like the FFL way I will not like splitting the 1st Round in 4 days cause I love the draft process and the picks moving quickly but to be honest I think it could be better for trade purposes giving time to the managers to negotiate properly... so it would be 24 hour clock and one pick each 3 hours or what??
