  • 2036 Preseason Talk

Only one retirement from the Phils. Kinda stinks though. We signed him in the off season for two years and he retired after the first.

Good news out of Punxsutawney. QB Heath Morton is fully healed and recovering from his devastating injury. That's an unexpected surprise.

However, we have no money and need to tag DE Greg Ward. We have 45 players signed, so we don't have to do much in FA. Here's hoping this is a deep draft class.

Tried to resign my FS the last two sims. He wanted $46m over 4 years, offered him $40 then $44 and he declined them both.

Are the days of negotiating over?

Depends what you're doing. Are you dropping bonus money down?

I upped the salaries to all the same and dropped the bonus down $1.5m?

Is it all bonus and 1st year they care about?

Bonus usually outweighs salary by a large margin.

I tend to not drop bonus and see how low I can get the salary.

I think the margin for negotiating is way, way down.

I don't have a good feel for this, but I've had some luck with keeping the bonus the same and increasing first year salary by X (let's say, $1M) and dropping a total of about 2X from the remaining years of the salary (let's say $0.5M from years 2 and 3, and $1M from year 4). Just to reign in the escalating cap costs a little bit from the demands.

Sometimes, though, I'm just thinking, "This guy is going to be so overpaid I'll probably have to cut him in the last year anyway, might as well enjoy the cap savings this year".

Long time captain Donald Graham retires after write all the record books in Tackling here in Ohio, was one year before than expected but we wish the best for him after the football life.

We are going to search for a Defensive Coordinator and try to upgrade our stadium to 399 Luxury Boxes after dead last in finances this year...

We're going to suck again. Looks like most of my draft was a bust too. I have a billion dollars free though if you're looking for some upside. Plus a bunch more picks to blow. Should have taken the OT...

Got a new SC. Let's hope he tones down those injuries from last season.

Now we have to tag Ward. There goes all our money.

Oh man. Thanks to the 7.1a update, we lost our cap room and couldn't extend Travis Christen. Then Howie Laflamme didn't retire and the question is: tag Laflamme, the 13th year stud safety who was key to our 12-4 run? Or tag Christen, who averaged under 6 yards per target last season but is a stud WR?

Looks like Charlotte is keeping the Jesus around as they tagged him.

Damn, really thought I was potentially gonna get that guy out of the division.

Not that the Jesus has won anything important, but he's a pain in my ass when trying to continually stomp on the division.

Christen was the smarter move for the long term. The Flame is flaming out due to old age.
