Looking at offers people are making, then looking at their team and all the players in the last year of their contract, I start wondering what they are doing... I prefer to have the extra money to pay my players first. Besides, my players will be cheaper since I don't have to compete with others to sign them.

      OMG I signed people!

Much needed life in my secondary. They may be old, but they can still play (and play CB).

I got my safeties back! A welcome surprise. One stage ago I discovered that Howie Laflamme would be amenable to an offer from Boston (he definitely didn't start out this way in FA). That's neat, a player coming back from past injustices.

Now, he hasn't been available in either of the last two playoffs for me, so I hope it's worth it. I think I would've preferred Morgantown's safety, but they were both signing this stage and I had to stick with my own guy.

Regarding signing players vs extending my own guys, I also prefer the latter, but sometimes it's more expensive than they're worth. As long as FA classes are always fruitful, sometimes I think the money saved by letting my guys walk into FA could be put into maybe better use. Also sometimes they're more expensive.

Welcome to Punxsutawney Mr. Bradley. Please meet your new secondary partner, Mr. Fulton. I'm sure you two will have loads of fun wrecking other teams passing games.

I actually passed on LaFlamme in order to sign the other guy.

            It broke my heart.

Like getting Money to mentor Wellins (does that even do anything?) and I needed a back-up QB badly. Missed on some other big ticket items, I guess we'll be hoarding cash in the MTC.

Yeah, I think the mentoree needs to be active, though. (Not necessarily playing/starting) At least that's what I read once, who knows :-) It's nice, accelerating their development.

Money's got some history to him! A 1.1 pick that had a max rating of maybe 40/40, but some very fine production in his years in Boston under Mike17. Then some other guy came and flubbed it all up, and Money walked.

Meh, I was planning on signing Money to be my STARTER this season even after drafting the QB at 1.3.

Nut...ENOUGH with the one year deals. You're killing me. I'm offering these guys more per year and decent bonus, then you swoop in with a one year eye candy deal.

Haha, who'd I get this time?

I actually thought good long term bonus seems to win out. Although it's not that easy to lock in a guy at modest bonus for the long haul.

I'm starting to think we should nix the "no FA rules" bit and go back to 3 yr rule.

Which is funny because I used to be against the 3 yr rule.

I'm not all for FA rules, but at "best", 2 year. As long as it doesn't create a stale FA market due to having the ability to extend offers on players that you wanna keep. With 1 year deals, at least the players who get 1 year deals will be on the FA market the next season.
