Great pick in RB Erlitz. Would've like to see more Hole Rec (true of all RBs, generally) but he's a good looking all a rounder.

Thanks. Hopefully he can be an upgrade. I have a terrible history of drafting RB's in this league. Most have ended up getting cut in their rookie year.

I really have done a disastrous job at drafting running backs in this league. Here is the proof:
Howie Clements RB, 4.21 in 2029, 16 career GP
Cris Ogden RB, 5.27 in 2029, 66 career GP (on 13 for Waco)
Tito Strouse RB, 6.19 in 2020, 0 career GP
Gino Williams RB, 6.3 in 2032, 127 career GP
Jacob Crump RB, 2.24 in 2035, 16 career GP
Mack Madsen RB, 3.5 in 2035, 93 career GP (only for Waco)
Sawyer Durham RB, 2.15 in 2041, 0 career GP (I traded up to draft this gem)
Malcolm Graham RB, 7.21 in 2041, 0 career GP
Miles Barraza RB, 7.29 in 2041, 0 career GP

Erlitz definitely looks like an early contributor who has something to offer both running and passing. Probably more in the passing department unless his HR comes up in a major way, but it seems like he has a pretty good chance to be in the low 40s and that's not much to complain about. Could add ST, too, always important.
He definitely looks like a RB that was worth drafting, anyway, despite the prevalence of capable runners that seem to fall into UDFA territory every year.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

Decent, 4-year cheap labor in the low 40s overall range is something I need at DB, and that wasn't an outcome of free agency for us this year. In the 5th round, if I have to cut him, no biggie either. But I feel good that he can contribute.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

Like the pick by Ira for T Giove.
There's ... other OTs I think I would've taken before Giove but taking guys with higher RunB and PassB bars over snagging a good combine guy is the way to go.
My gut tells me he won't hold, but he is the sort of thing I look for in OL in the latter half of the draft.
Edit: Cripes, someone finally took DT Hampton.Last edited by garion333; 08-17-2016, 10:19 AM.

I actually don't like either Giove or Hampton that much.
Hampton has bars, but he also doesn't has low grade, probably 0 endurance, low statics, low development, and average to bad combines. It just seems like he'll come out 18/37 and maybe, with years of PT development, claw his way to being a serviceable backup.
Now that I said that, I'm sure he will blossom into a superstar and make me eat my words :) I mean, you could certainly do worse at 5.31 than take a shot and hope the bar does hold.
Giove doesn't actually have very high bars. They're solid if they're true, but then nothing else is particularly supporting that. His best combine is his bench and his static is really low there; the RB and PB combines are pretty bad. So for these two to turn out to be great, you'd have to rely on the kind of logic that would say almost anybody can be great.
Which, arguably, is the only logic that can apply at this point in a draft :P
I did like Twitty. I think he can make a case as a player that ends up being starter quality, although I'm rather skeptical of it. Still, if he is a high-30s player that has only one of GD and RR, or even neither, at least he's a 5th round receiver who can stretch the field, and that seems useful as a worst case. Even very mediocre FA WRs are expensive in a way that just tends not to be true for other positions.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

Yup, Hampton with that PRT moved to DE and is a great backup. 0 endurance means little to nothing for him from my view and a better PRS would be good to see but if he had more of that he would've went earlier. Combines are essentially useless at this point in the draft.
I don't love Giove, I liked Ira's thinking behind him. I did pull him up in DA after I posted and saw his strength bar is below his combine spec, which is likely a bad thing.
