  • Let's do some math....24 hours....

    12 picks....

    224 picks total......

    divided by 12/day.....

MEANS 18+ days to complete the draft....

Except that the draft clock goes to 6 hours in the later rounds (I forget if it's from the 2nd round on or not).

It'll all even out, no worries.

            • If someone ends up getting auto-picked due to running out of time, do they get auto-picked from here on out. Its ridiculous that the people with lists set up are also the ones who continue to check in. Isn't this the second time in the first 13 picks that we are waiting on one dude without even giving a message. I really don't like to complain (and getting Whalen gives me less of a reason) but I thought the utility was supposed to make the draft faster.

A better time limit rule would be those who don't make a list only have 2 hours to show up and pick. That enables them to make a live pick if they want but not allowing for this blatant lack of common courtesy.

I'm not trying to call anyone out but I'm leaning towards shortening the time limit from 12 to 10 or 8 next year. I still cant see why it would take any owner more than 8 hrs to make a pick or work out a trade especially with the constant internet access (phone, blackberry, computer etc.) we have nowadays. Yesterday, I was really leiniant because not everyone was aware that the draft started but today is a different story. Everybody is aware that the draft is ongoing and should be aware that their picks are coming soon so they should check in as frequently as they can.

That was my fault yesterday, he was waiting for me to get back from the Galaxy game so we could trade picks. :)

                    • Vote at the beginning of next season sounds fair. But I think it should be reduced to 6-8. We have the instruments in place to streamline the process, force people to use it. Right now the utility is more of an option than a requirement with the 12 hr limit.

                        • I'm in one league that has a 1 hour time limit per pick. That is a bit too quick for some, but 12 is definitely too long particularly when people disappear for long periods of time and use most of those 12 hours. Between the break at the end of the season (which I understand was unavoidable) and how slow the draft is going, I think it's hurting the league's momentum.

                            • Time limits cannot do what needs to be done. Even if we had only two hours for every single pick, if we all used our time it would take 19 days. Here's a post that I made in another league. It applies here as well.

FOF rookies, completed its entire FIRST amateur draft in 3 1/2 days, by
                                following basically the guidelines above.
                                You jinxed us right there,lol.
