The more variables that are built into the players the more variable our approaches will be. That would allow the game to throw out the artificial randomness and allow a much more natural randomness to emerge. OOTP does a much better job with all of this, and it makes the scouting and drafting process much more fun. You have control over how your team scouts, how much money you put into scouting, what type of scout you hire. (a guy that favors potential vs. already developed skill as an example) It's a shame that FOF blows through all of that and relies solely on some vague bars set by a scout that you don't get to pick, combine scores, and a grade that seems to come out of nowhere. It's simply too shallow to be accurate, and accuracy is really what's needed to give a fulfilling experience in multi-player.
