  • PLEASE READ: SIM COMPLETE- NEXT SIM TUESDAY-MIDWEEK SIM- EXHIBITION WEEK 2

The preseason is underway. Only two games this week but some of the rookies looked good according to the box scores.

I received a few ideas from owners about suggested changes to the season specifically the midweek sims. Some suggestions included eliminating the midweek sims in the preseason and only having them during the actual season. Some even went further than that. Now I'm against making any changes to the regular season but I'm open to eliminating the mid week sims in the preseason. I'll leave that decision up to the league so vote above. The poll will close on Thursday.

If you vote no preseason midweek sims: The preseason schedule will change to this:

    10/11 Week 2 Sim
    10/12- Week 3 Sim
    10/14- Week 4 Sim
10/15- Week 5 Sim (Special one time Monday sim so that we can keep our regular season game sims on Thursday and Sunday)

    Regular Season begins 10/18.

If you vote to keep the schedule the same: The regular season will begin on 10/25.

    Next Sim Tuesday at 9.

And if you vote no on mid-week sims, then remember that the CPU will most likely tweak your lineup should you happen to make a roster change between games. Usually, what will happen is that you'll sign someone or trade someone and there will be an open spot on your depth chart to make room for the player - or you could have an injury and a player out - and the CPU will decide to make it's own depth chart and your starters will be starting your preseason game. Taking away midweeks just benefits people that don't make any moves in preseason and don't have players that get injured.

    So, basically, what's the rush?

EDIT: Actually, if you had a player show up unable to play, you would have a chance to bench him, but if you needed to hire someone new to replace him you don't have a chance to put that new player into the spot you want on your depth chart - so the CPU will do it for you and all the other spots, unless that's been changed in 6.1 somehow.

Well, I voted no as well. . . I like to use it as an adjustment to gameplanning and personnel. . . without it, the preseason is a waste of time. We'll spend most of our time in the first two or three regular season games ironing out the problems in gameplanning when we should have had the opportunity to do so in PRESEASON. . .

P.S. Damn Global Options. . .I forgot to check it with the upgrade, and it reset my depth charts for the first preseason game. .

The only thing I'd like to remind everyone, is that this poll assumes we're all on a level playing field. Some of us need the time to mentally and physically process the information so we can effectively gameplan and establish rosters. We're not all equal in that aspect. I forget things and with my short term memory problems I'd prefer not to get rushed. I struggle when the routine is abandoned. Sorry. . .

Could I suggest that, if we eliminate the preseason midweeks, that we at least get a midweek sim before the week 1 regular season? Thank you.

I tried to edit my last post, but I can't figure out how, so please ignore that post. . .it's. . . .self serving and it shouldn't figure in on the voting. . .

There will still be a midweek before week 1 of the reg season. Reg season midweeks will not be affected by the change.

I dont think its self serving because its a serious issue for you and I'm sure other owners take the time between sims to gameplan and adjust their rosters too.

My only question is how much gameplanning is going into a preseason game? For example changing the schedule doesnt change the fact that each sim you will get to watch your team play and make adjustments for the next week. Preseason imo is to evaluate your talent and try new gameplanning techniques and I dont see how eliminating the mid week sims will effect that.

I voted Yes, but now seeing some coaches comments' and the vote itself is pretty much split, I personally don't mind keeping as is.

I really don't see the value in mid-week sims at all in pre-season.

                            The voters have spoken!

I'll second that, and we'll prolly have to to drop players to the 53 man limit.
