Waco went 3-13 this past season...are two rookies going to make them great right away? Probably not. Chicago now will have (potentially) 2.2 in this draft, a top ten pick in next years draft, and a top ten 2nd round pick. Those could even be top five.
And who is the South Maryland owner?
You are correct two rookies are not going to make us great right away but i am not playing this game to make us great right away. I am in it for the long haul and see what these two can bring us in the future. Some may say i over payed as you suggest but i really like Muncy and when the opportunity was there to get him i wanted to get him. Even with a top 10 pick next year i may not get a MLB like this so i went out and got him now.

I'm not saying you made a bad trade. You got the guy you really liked. I have seen that work out for the best in a lot of situations. That is why you traded up.
I'm just saying I really like the move for Chicago.

I have to disagree. The only real difference between 2008 and 2009 for NLB on defense, was 1st round pick, Joel Wild who ended up being a DROY finalist. I think his addition to our squad was immeasurable, so I think the right 1 or 2 talented players, regardless of position, will make a huge difference to a team.

There's always differing opinions on every trade here and in our baseball league. Nobody knows their teams as well as the owners.
Muncy wouldn't do anything for me, as I traded up last year and used the 3rd pick for a MLB. My team's Offense sucks, and there wasn't anybody at 7 that I thought was worth it. The one guy I really wanted was already gone, as I knew he would be. However I do like the depth at a few positions so I picked up some picks later.
Next year if there's some impact offensive players, I should be in a much stronger position. It's not like I was going to win 5 more games this year with anyone I picked at 7.
I also have a brand new coaching staff so yeah, we're STILL rebuilding.

Great trade man. Most GM's(real and virtual) are overly infatuated with "potential." Potentially, there may be another top tier MLB next year, but I agree with you, you don't know that. But you do know that you like what you see now. I think sometimes you have to go out and get what you want and deal with the positive or negative consequences after, and you did just that. Does it pan out, maybe or maybe not, but you don't have to live with watching Muncy tear it up for another squad.
But you may have to watch him suck for yours....lol. Good trade man.

Yeah we have been trying to get a MLB like Muncy since we arrived in Waco. 2007 Draft we picked Jimmie Mayes at #17. He was a stretch when we picked him in a weak list of MLB's that were available at that point. Then in 2008 and 2009 we tried to pick up someone late in the draft in the hope they would suprise us. Well our search is finally over and do not mind one bit giving up what we did. Good luck with the picks Jistic.

That's where I was last year. Already had a very good (ratings wise) defense. Our line was solid, Db's solid. Decent LB's, but needed the Mike. Got Durham who looked to be and still may be a stud, traded up to get him.
But my guys aren't playing to what I feel they should on Defense. So we cleaned house with the staff, let Ellard go, now Kneilling.
I think we can help our D a little more though by getting some offensive help, which just isn't there right now.
