    2025 Season in Review

    2025 is over. My fifth season with the franchise, and this one, has been the best season for the Jaguars since 2013. But why I am making this post now, and not one season ago? Because of this…

    Isaac Staat Retirement
    Isaac Staat, has set an era in the franchise. He has never been able to reach the playoffs because the lack of talent around him my first seasons here, and always fell short late in the season the last three years. But Isaac Staat, has been without a doubt one of biggest playmakers of the OSFL history, and I think one of the most underrated too.

    He has never done an MVP season, and never topped the rushing charts. But even with that in mind he is the 7th in All-Time Rushing Yards with a total 12068 yards, and that number could be higher if Earnest Bixler never appeared. But this number isn’t why I said he’s one of the biggest playmakers ever. This numbers are, All-time Receiving Yards by a Running Back with 5052, and the first (and only atm) RB to ever reach the 5000 mark, plus most receiving TDs by a RB with 33. Also 4th All-Time in All Purposed Yards, with 24220, and 4th All-time in Yards from Scrimmage with 17120. That’s why he was so important to us, he was our offense, and our special teams, most of our yard production was thanks to him, and that will be a hole almost impossible to replenish in just one player. Thanks, Isaac!

    We have RB Earnest Bixler, who was great as the 2nd RB his first two season, and his first season as a part-time starter RB has been not that great, though 4.43 avg is very good and I cannot complain with his perfomance. But is obviously he’s not Staat, he’s not a good a receiver, and can’t return the ball either. But let’s see how perform as a full-time starter next season.

    Unleash the Beast. 3-4, the future?
    This five seasons we used the typical 4-3, because we had a lack of talent in LB, but one of the best defensive lines. Now, we have OLB Stan Lee, one of the best players in the league, and with the DL ageing, it’s about time to make the switch, and for him to take charge of this defense along with S Nate Sinclair and CB Jerry Drake, who had a down year this last season. Without Staat, and probably without WR Frankie Odum, we depend more than ever in our defense.

    2029 Draft

    1.24 (Traded to Gainesville)
    In one of the deepest draft the Jaguars decided that they didn't want to draft anyone in the 1st round and trade away of the 1st, in exchange of a 1st next year and the 3.27 pick. We were considering drafting G Leo Jefferson, DE Sherman Sanders or WRs Clifton Monroe and Trent Cerf. In a retrospective view, I think we did the right thing as the 3 of the guys dropped to 2nd round... And we think our big rebuilding task will start in the next draft. We also considered to trade up in the top 2nd to draft G Leo Jefferson and try to land Sidharta from Utah, but finally decided to have patience.

    2.23 (Traded to Chicago)
    We traded this pick for QB Ethan Lepsis just before the draft started. We still like Quinteros, but his perfomance in the playoffs, and some games in the regular season showed that he can lead a team to the championship. He can be great for and average team, or one of the best backups QB in the league but nothing else. We still trust in QB Luther Lyon to be our QB of the future but he is still very raw.

    3.22 DT Glenn Delgado (33/57) - Delaware State
    No combine guy, undersized. Everyone wanted to draft him but no one did. We weren't considering to draft a DL here, but he kept dropping in the draft and with C Brady Light gone (who was our biggest need) just two picks before we took our chances. If our scouts are right this guy should have been drafted in top half of the 2nd round at worst. More if he's better suited as an all-around DE. You can't never be very excited with no combine guys, but he looks good value at the bottom of the 3rd, and the other concern is his high volatility (92). He would have an important role since his first season if he's what is expected.

    3.27 C Luther May (29/68) - Michigan State
    We doubted a lot deciding who will be our C. Brady Light, Luther May, Duane Perch, even Bucky Hughes. Our scouts had Perch VO and May VU which doesn't seem the case, and his dash is a concern. But he came out 68 rated, better that expected, so if he takes a hit, I can take it, and comparing with other scouts teams they got the same results. If he ends in the low 60s I will be happy. He will have a shot to be our everyday C since day one.

    4.27 WR Tyrone Bensen (24/45) - Mercyhurst
    Is the kind of receiver we like in South Maryland. High AD, GD and RR. A possession guy, very similar to Stegeman but in a smaller frame. He was VU for our scouts, which I'm skeptical to believe, but he was the receiver we liked more at this stage. Even the worst WR will improve our receiver corp, so if he ends up in the low 40s he could even be an important part of the team.

    5.26 WR Van Cochran (15/25) - Pittsburgh
    I followed an advice from Julio, grab a guy from the shittiest position in your roster and he could have a chance to make the team. And that's what we did. So we grabbed our 2nd WR in a row. We picked him primarily for being a ST specialist, but we thought he could even see some playing time in the offense if he came up decent, but 25 potential was lower than expected. He probably makes the team if his ST bar is in the 70s-80s, if not, he should have a big TC if he wants to be part of the Jaguars.

    6.25 T Philip Graham (21/43) - Arizona State
    We were considering to pick P Wayne Rose here, but we didn't. Still I don't know why. Well, yeah. We picked a Punter with a 4th rounder the last year, which is a high investment for a Punter. He's a creeper, and with P Matt Russ gone he will have a chance to prove himself for first time this season, and I like his rounded bars. Didn't sound right pick another punter without looking more closely at Rogers. So we decided for this tackle. We thought that we could take some depth at T with RT Terrell Walker ageing. Graham looked good with that high BP and no flaws in his combine, only endurance could be a concern, but for a backup T he looks very good.

    7.24 G Zach Franz (15/32) - Stanford
    We really wanted the TE that Utah took two picks before, after he went we were out of ideas. We looked at every position to see if we saw someone worth it. And again, improving our OL is always a priority in South Maryland, so we went after a G. The problem is, what we need at G position are starters, not depth, and he has a conflict with our OL leader so seems very unlikely he can make the team.

      Three years after: 2026 Draft

      1.21 WR Elvin Stegeman 23/52 –> 56/56
      Stegeman was a great pick. It’s always hard draft receivers in the bottom half of the 1st. He had injury problems in 2027, but last season he ended just shy of the 1000 yds, ending with 968 yds.

      2.14 RB Zach Romeo 39/54 -> 51/51
      We traded up for him, giving up a third and now we can say that worth it. He is our punt returner (and a great one), and ocassionally kick returner. Also has been pretty solid as our 2nd RB, with lots of touches and being in the range of 550-650 yds this three seasons. This season he also got 254 receiving yards, being a very sure-handed receiver when the ball goes his way.

      3.22 G Ben Lasica 24/46 -> 41/41
      I had hopes of him reaching the 50s and being one day one of the starting guards. But he got injured in the 2027 preseason and lost his potential. We’re considering to move him at Center this TC, where seems he can do better. Is the only way he could make the team this season.

      4th QB Cole Lindsay
      Our worst pick. I wasn’t expecting anything from him, he didn’t make the team, and I think he quit OSFL.

      5th DE Clyde Fulcher 19/40 -> 50/50
      Getting a starter from a 5th rounder is always great, and Fulcher earned the RDE job last season. Not spectacular, but solid, with 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks this season. Also, he’s still learning playing in the right where we think he is more suited, but maybe with the retirement of Weiser he can switch back to the left side.

      6th OT Mel Houlihan 15/38 –> 37/37
      We can’t ask much more from a backup RT. He has been ok.

      7th WR Tommie Barlow
      He didn’t make the team either, and quit the OSFL.

      Undrafted ILB Floyd Follette 38/38
      He has been an OK backup at ILB position. With last season compiling for 26 tackles and 2 sacks.

      So I can say it was a good draft. We got no stars, but two solid starters, if not three with Romeo being a key piece in every area of the team.
