Four of my top five guys are gone. My scout loves a few of the pitchers but do I really need more pitching?
1.7 is available. Can combine it with one of my pitchers for a solid hitter. If no one is interested I'll pick in the AM when I'm home from work.

Pawtucket selects 1B/IF/OF- Jimmy Lee.
Went back and forth with a pitcher and Jimmy Lee on this one.
I've learned to trust my scout however and when I see "possible Hall of Famer" got to take the player.
Won't get the OSA love due to his lack of power, but rare combination of above average contact/ eye/ avoid K potiential. A switcher and the fact his OF pure ratings are good put him over the top.
Have a late first round coming up and think there will be some good players left on the board.

I thought real hard about taking Malone with 1.3. I think he's going to be a good one.

We had some discussions about moving this pick, but once the hitters came off the board and the pitchers were still around, we decided to hold onto it.
No reason to make people wait any longer. Maher was one of three pitchers we really liked. So we'll go with the second and hope the third somehow slips into 2.2, though I'm not counting on it.
The Denver Bulls select

SP Ron Malone out of Cal State Fullerton.

In Malone we get a workhorse. He currently leads all eligible players in wins, innings pitched and complete games over his three+ years of college baseball. He has a 393/67 K/BB ratio with a very impressive 0.91 WHIP.
With potential three plus pitches, including a 100 mph fastball, we expect Malone to anchor the staff in Denver for the foreseeable future.
Very happy to have him heading to Little Rock.

Not arguing. If the arms weren't available, I would have chosen one of those two myself.Originally posted by nelmsm View PostI really liked a couple of the arms but I've drafted pitching first the last 3 drafts so it was time to look at bats.

I like Patterson. A lot. Kinda make me see him as a right handed Dane Browning.
Before you go nuts, you need to remember Browning was special before injuries ruined him.

Pat Ladd.Originally posted by Jistic View PostThere hasn't been any great hitters drafted in years in this league. Knudson, Duarte maybe...since 95. In this era we're in we feel Frantz is extremely worthy of the #1 pick. There are no guys packed with blue bars coming out anymore. The trend in league BA and ERA is beginning to reflect this IMO.
