Also Jug, in case you missed it, here is a Draft Class Extractor that lists intelligence/etc for ALL players. I compiled it with DBU data:

Chuck, I think the "more clear masked pairs" are significant but I don't know for sure. It's one of the reasons I recall picking Boone over Beisel, I think. Can't remember.
Of course, higher SR and 46 sole pushes it over the top too. 46 I think is generally considered extraordinary, while 41 is still very good.
I highly doubt Sheldon is 40 rated, but I think 70 is probably pushing it. Again, I'm comparing him to the mid 50s Beisel here, and the high 60s Boone. Not outside the realm of possibility.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

Aston: we may be arguing semantics because like I keep saying, you may indeed be right. But you may also be wrong. Ok, I dug up the combines for the 82 rated QB (who still has +1 cut test and is gaining 1-2 points every season). Let's compare:
82 rated: 46 sol (41 intell), 4.64, 12, 7.34, 115, 78
Sheldon: 41 sol (29 intell), 4.63, 13, 7.39, 104, 81
Regarding the 46 vs 41 sol, I personally consider them both big outliers. So you are comparing one big outlier with an even bigger outlier. Usually, in my experience, a huge combine is not much different than a really huge combine.
For the pair, well I would argue if Reynolds had the deep/read pair that you would have seen the same thing (because his deep passing isn't that great). The pair doesn't always have to be two apparent max scores, although I will concede that it does certainly lend to a better feeling.

Anyone who says that masked pairs need to be in lock step or that some guy will have X rating because of his combine, I will point to this guy all day:

It is always a pair. There is no such thing as a medium only mask. You see those masked/maxed pairs on the uber studs because those bars are very high.
On this QB (+7 future TC, incidentally), it is not clear to see but he has the timing/medium pair, it is just that his timing is in actuality close to 0, so the pair does not manifest itself.
Long pass is different, it is never paired.
But... if I were to look at it your way, I would just say that Sheldon doesn't have a pair. He just has the one big bar.Last edited by thenewchuckd; 12-13-2012, 10:36 PM.

Um, Sheldon obviously has a pair. A ton of low non-static bars and then two circa 60/90 ones.
SH/ACC, MED/TIM, 3rd/2MIN, DP/RD, these are always 'paired' in the sense that they are supposed to move in the same direction. That's regardless of bar pattern. I don't know how you could possibly say there is a masked pair pattern on the other guy -- there isn't, or you would have noticed in the first place.
Why he went +7 -- dunno, I'm as surprised as you are. I do think you'll see those one mega-high bar, paired or not guys often show some climbing, though. That seems to be a pattern: the mega-high bar drops and others gain. In this case I guess bars like long/deep were destined to gain, and if timing is dropping off, accuracy stands to hold or better, too.
Also possible his SR is unusually high for a 7.66 agility score to begin with. But he clearly is not a MalcPow masked pair bar pattern, even if he is a creeper.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.

My opinion on Sheldon (for what it's worth) is that his accuracy and/or timing will come up, and everything else is pretty much as advertisedOwner of the Drunken, Fightin' Irish.

Didn't like anybody at my last pick. Decided to take a gamble on another RB to WR type guy. He's slow for a WR but he's got the bars to possibly make itNew Orleans Stingrays GM 2024-2029

Cash Register for me in the late 1st. Scout had him at HTR but I love the bars and strength and Duckworth needs run blockers. Hopefully he's not another Dustin Chorak.
I had my heart set on the LB Anchorage took, but I didn't have the ammo to move up that far in the draft. Seems like everyone had Hoffman and Register at the top of their lists, so I guess that bodes well for my pick.

garion made a good Ryan Matthews analogy. Giang isn't LT, but he had an incredible run in Utah and carried a top-5 rushing team five years in a row. Pretty big shoes for rookie Michael Glenn to fill -- especially with a few guys already in town.
It looks like Utah is back to a platoon attack, although we transitioned in that direction last season, with Giang fading and fumbling, and Ryan Green stepping up.Float likeabutterflysting likeabee.
