  • Sully I really don't care if you disagree. I made a pick, it's done. Move on.

      Really?

The way I see it, us having to auto draft for a team, drafting by need, is a PENALTY. We don't look at scouting reports. Why should we penalize them anymore?

I can't imagine how much some of you guys would lose it if we drafted a FB/K/P in round one if you missed the time.

I don't see how it's rewarding him. He's still being penalized in that he didn't make his own pick or have the opportunity to make a trade. Given the players available and his needs, I wouldn't be surprised if he would have traded down had he been here. By not showing up, he forfeited the opportunity to make his own decision. The fact that we didn't completely dick him over by giving him a fullback doesn't mean we're blowing him.

        • FWIW, in other leagues I'm in, we just skip the guy and they don't get anyone until they check in, like Minnesota failing to get their draft card in on time a few years ago.

I agree with Sully. You don't change the rules midstream because you suddenly don't like them. The precedent as set by the commish has been the 1st player on the team's need list. That is what should have been taken.

"Dick" and "blowing" in the same sentence...on a board full of dudes.

            Love it.

            • fwiw, Liquid has always been active (in all 3 leagues) and I think deserves the benefit of the doubt. If I remember correctly, Skerik gave me the same benefit of the doubt in our first draft when I got confused about the draft timer and would've ended up taking DT's with my 1st two picks.

              • Why doesn't everyone just stop arguing so we can enjoy the draft?

                • It pains me to say it, but I agree with diesel and Z. Letting someone else pick for you without the benefit of your own scouting or opinion, is penalty enough in itself. Completely screwing a team is a good way to lose owners who quit out of petulance and a bad way to attract new owners to for those vacant teams.

That is exactly my point. Furthermore, don't preach to me about ways to lose owners and destroy morale, then tell me if I don't like your decision then it's "too bad".

I did do that. Like I said, completely screwing the offending team really does nobody any good. It upsets the competitive balance of the league, pisses off current owners and does little to attract new owners to fill the void left by the pissed off ones.

Has Sully finally found his long-sought reason to quit this league? Stay tuned....

                          • Back to the discussion of the actual draft...last few picks:

                            28. DEN - FL Jerome Bennett
                            29. UTA - LG Kent Wyoming
                            30. MOR - LT Sedrick Bartrum

Any opinions? I was high on Wyoming, but I couldn't take him at 2.25.

Ha, funny. Your team is in a downward spiral, so I'm assuming we can expect your resignation any day now.

Just make sure you sign a few players to ridiculously long, and ridiculously expensive, contracts before doing so.

I really liked Wyoming, and was planning on taking him with my next pick.
