I think everyone should pick batters until the sandwich round. Then it's ok to go back to pitchers.
How about all batters until after the sandwich round?

    Thanks guys :)

With the 5th pick, the California Wildfire select SP Mac Avery.

20 year old RHP out of Sunnyvale, California.

He's some what developed, so I'm hoping he moves along quickly.

This was my other "Jeff Franklin" out there... doubt he ever makes that type of impact, but in terms of quickly moving through the minors I could see it happen.

I had Carbajal rated pretty high... top 10 overall, top infielder.

In terms of overall potential, Carbajal is the #4 player in this draft according to my scouts.

Carbajal is a switch hitting power hitter who is a stud in the field. He might not have a super high OBP and he will strike out a lot, but the guy is going to be really good if he reaches that potential.

Wow. I didn't expect Carbajal there at all. California, I have a hunch, but it's a reach.

What Andrew says makes sense.... and with Davenport having two more first rounders... easy to see the logic.

With Davenport's 1st round picks, I'm not that surprised. My take is that he was one of the best power hitters in a weak draft for power hitters. Starting Pitching seems to be pretty deep though so he has a decent chance of getting an impact starter later in the draft.

There will never be another Jeff Franklin.

Hard to believe 15 guys went in front of him in that draft....

Denver was a VERY popular name back in like the turn of the century into like the 1920's. Even today it ranks as like #900 among boys first names in the US.

    My favorite all-time Denver...

    Denver Pyle aka Uncle Jesse

I think he could be better than Magness too. I don't know who I would've picked if I had the 1st pick.
I agree. Bode could be great. Should be in fact.

On your #2...what are you talking about? Not sure what an awkward current development means.
There are some folks around the OOTP board that swear that prospects who start with a skewed current rating (I think Bode is like a 2-2-6) never develop correctly. Just a rumor.

And yes I've heard of people with the first name Denver. It's not that uncommon.
Wow, I didn't even notice that when looking at his ratings. I guess we'll see what happens.

Franklin was also drafted in OOTP 2006 though. 2007 works a little bit differently in terms of development. IMO, having a guy as far along as Magness is a huge advantage. It seems like in 2007 that more time in the minors = more time to become a bust.

I also fixed the minimum age so high school players are 18 and college players are in their 20's instead of 16/19 like last year. We shouldn't see too many Jeff Franklins from now on.

Ah, Rex Knight goes off the board. My scouts liked him all around.
