Not really sure I like how the game ranks it's prospects. Considered DeJesus when I picked at 11 and 17. Went with Peller and Shook and Willie D is ranked 68, neither of those two hitters are ranked.
I don't think DeJesus is nearly as good of a player or will be as good of a player as either one of those guys. But he's the one ranked. I wouldn't move either player for him but that's beside the point.

Why you even have a 2.11 draft pick is what constantly wows me the most.
If there's one thing I am jealous of is your ability to somehow continue getting owners to give you good draft picks for players you don't need or desire.
I too could find steals early in the 2nd round if I could actually get responses to trade offers of players owed less money and having talent. But Pat, man, you somehow always do it and that's what keeps you at the top.
In another league I'm in, it's another guy that reminds me of Pat who is nearly always in the championship. He's more dramatic though because he constantly flips high prices old veterans for first rounders and it just leaves me wondering why anyone continues to deal with him.
I don't say it to block Pat trades. This is more the awe for whatever gift people like you two have. I don't have it.

1.19 SP Tom Calligan debuts at #81 on the Top Prospect List and was listed as the #3 overall prospect on BLB News draft email.
2.11 C Willie De Jesus debuts at #68! I think that might be a personal best for highest debut by a 2nd rounder. It was down to Calligan and De Jesus for the 1.19 pick. I was shocked Willie was still around.
Both are HS kids and will take a long, long time to develop but I'm very pleased with the draft. Neither are really "Washington Types" as Calligan is a stuff pitcher and De Jesus is a HR threat and not the best defender...but they will do.
None of my other draft picks made my organizational Top 20. However, all will be given some playing time over the next sim to see if they can show a flash to keep them on the Single-A Roster. We are currently 40/40 and will have a few tough decisions to make. There are a handful of AAAA types down there that will be easy to let go but most are 18-22 year olds.

I'm guessing part of the reason we don't see more guys hitting the BLB is because we have injuries on low. A lot of these marginal guys won't ever see any time because we don't model injuries realistically in fear of losing our stars.

Comparing our draft pool to the MLB isn't apples to apples though. We have always been and still are closer to the NFL draft.

Not broken, just different.
After spending hours reading on OOTP 14 and the draft in the OOTP forums I don't mind it so much anymore. Draft off OSA, intangibles, stats and your scout somewhat in that order. Also ignore the scout writeups, they were actually removed from the game but put back in later. The summaries were never fixed.

Less than 50% of 2nd rounders make it to the MLB and 16% of players taken in the 2nd round play 3 years in the majors as a regular contributor.
OOTP does a fine job of keeping the stats in line. The hitters are still there.

if the POT is fluffy this there shouldn't be so much gloom and doom so early in the draft. i always say its more like and NFL draft since we don't have 500 rounds, but even in the MLB there's hope after round one!!!
Again, not saying people shouldn't bomb. they should, but where's the hope?Last edited by funclown; 02-11-2015, 09:57 AM.

Our top guys didn't budge. No one also jumped on our list, but its to be expected given we didn't pick until the 3rd round. Also were pretty deep right now with our farm system.
Have two picks in each of rounds 2-4 and next season, plus two 1st in 2012. Pawtucket 3.0 didn't gut they're system like previous versions.

Toste debuted at 24th, which is encouraging. Still have two other guys on the list.
