OSFL 2008 Draft Discussion

Hey, everybody, i doubt it matters much anymore anyway. I figure we should be able to finish this thing today or early tomorrow, and the last FA period will be done by then, so we can get right on PDFA. It kind of works out.

It was rough early in the draft because they ere valuable picks, and we didnt want to have to use our preference lists.. (both the ones that were here and the ones that weren't) But it has progressed nicely since we got out of round 1, and we're close to finishing up. Its been sort of arduous, a little painstaking, but seriously.. Nothing to get too hot headed over. As I mentioned earlier, we'll be set to start PDFA immediately. Lets just try and fix it next offseason and maybe foster a little competition by gameplanning to beat the ones you hate. Maybe our rivalries will develop in more ways than just on the field.

Now, does anybody have any picks they want to dump? Yuma wants one more.

And on another note, how did I do anything wrong when I had 6 hours? Wasn't the change to 2 in the 5th round.

Aaron, I give you tons of respect for taking this thing over... but someone needs to reel in Mistwood. His bitching is sucking the fun out of this league and he hasn't played a snap. I'm putting him on ignore, which is pretty sad in a 32 team league.

As far as my most recent post I didn't realize it was still the 4th round, my mistake, and I WAS JOKING W/ YOU about your "I'm taking 6 hours" comment.

To show my goodwill I will never respond to one of your posts again, joking or otherwise so I don't offend you anymore, until and unless we work this out via PM.

Also, to anyone else that has taken offense in any way to my comments, etc. on the boards - 85% of what I post is BS and is meant for entertainment purposes only, guys like BillL130 understand this and we joke about it via AIM. If you want to block me go ahead, if you want to ban me, whatever, but I'm just trying to have fun with it as an alternative to a very stressful real life.

I agree with Andrew. Those who are going to be asses about it have shown that they are not going to change. I really can't get over the "I don't care" attitudes though. Those attitudes are more damaging to the league than anything else, in my opinion. You say you want to be in the league, but you can't use the tools to help it run smoothly? You are talking out of their mouths and their asses.

You arent the only one. Let me be clear. If you want to this league to be succesful and you want this to be a fun league, you have to participate. Participating means uploading sims and being active on the boardsm and selecting your draft pick in a timely manner. Under the rules, I can remove an owner at my discretion if I feel he isnt active and while I dont want to remove anybody, I will if I feel their behavior is damaging this league. This may not go over well with some owners but when this stops being fun its time to either do something about it or end the league. This league has caused me more stress than my job or family combined this week.

For me personally, which BTW... I never got close to the 6 hours... I was on the PC all day yesterday. Literally all day... well, my pick never came up. Eventually, my wife and children wanted me to look at them instead of the PC. I had one guy left that I liked. If he was gone, I was going to move the pick.

How is that not giving a damn?

How is that being less than courteous?

If we're after speed, just auto-draft the entire thing if we're not supposed to care who we get. We're not Bob Kraft or Jerry Jones, right? It shouldn't matter.

Damn... I haven't missed a sim... I was active in FA... but I watched "The Office" with my wife last night and didn't make my pick till LITERALLY THE FIRST THING I DID AFTER MY MORNING PISS... and that's not good enough.

As I explained, in this case, there was one guy I wanted and if he wasn't there, I was going to trade. I've had the Auto-Draft on on 2 of my other 3 picks.

Clay, your taking it personal and you shouldnt. My post wasnt directed at you. Nobody has said "I dont give a damn" but a few people have shown that they dont. When its clear that your picks are whats slowing up the draft, people ask you in every possible way to be courteous to your owners and either pick in a timely manner or put it on auto....and you still dont do it? Thats saying to me you dont give a damn.

"Timely Manner" to me doesnt mean pick in one hour or two. It means to try to pick as soon as you can and if you are going to to be away for a while to update your fellow owners and put it on auto if you can. I hate to keep calling out Z but he is the biggest offender and his first round pick picks took almost 12 hrs combined between the trade and him making a decision on his pick. Now the trade part wasnt his fault (or anyone's for that matter) but when you follow that up with taking over 4 hrs for each one of his picks after that, it kills the momentum of the draft. We have a second owner who is now going to go over his time limit for the second time. I email and dont get a response. My only concern is the health of the league and when people start saying they arent having fun anymore, the league is in trouble.

Next year this wont happen. The draft pick time will be shortened and I will look into other ways to quicken the pace.
