        quoted for truth,

this kinda goes to my theory about the whole "play to/for winner" attribute i still think its one of the hings that separate the good the bad and the ugly

just beat down, tho we passed more than i normally like to ill have to adjust the adjustments. still cant get over the penalties 10 for 76. hopefully the team responds like it did after the last yellow flag parade. well we have the bye week to lick our wounds

after having our 4 game win streak snapped (longest in 7 years) the we return home for the bye week at the start of an odd strech where 6 of the next 7 are on the road but at least we finish with our last 3 at home.

and it only get tougher from here out everyone except morgan town ( i have their #1 so i NEED to win still not an easy game) and denver is still in the wildcard picture (as of today) so nobody laying down not to mention i have to play Utah twice and im already a 1 game behind

the bye week is welcome as the riders were banged up after last weeks game. in the offseason the big FA steal was Allen Rose but in the same week the other signing phoenix made that was just as important was Tom Skeen

Rose's reasons for coming to the desert were lifestyle but for Skeen it was much simpler, "nobody wanted me" he said with a chuckle. "After Washington cut me i was a little sad but i looked at the bright side id get a chanc eto compete. I felt i still had it in me".

"but a week went by and nobody called me, untill i got a call from Hardy Trantham he was my OC in Charlotte and he was in Phoenix now. we talked and i wasnt too jazzed at first. after the season they had last year i wasnt sure if i wanted to be part of rebuilding like i was in Charlotte."

"another week went by and nothing so Hardy called me again and i broke down and went out there saw the facilities and i saw Alfred Morrision working out, and we talked, and i threw with him for a bit and i was almost sold. then afterwards i had one last talk with Hardy and he promised me things would be better than in Charlotte."

"we were a run first team just like Washington was so no more getting sacked 30 times. and that sounded like a recipe for success, also there wouldnt be much pressure. and im really glad i did this team is great the guys are real friends on this team and im very happy to be here"

Phoenix is off to its best start in years with skeen at the helm and he hopes to keep it up.

That's just 'cause you haven't stared down the teeth of the Utah blitz yet, Mr. Skeen. We'll get you those 30 sacks and change.

in the post game press conference tom skeen was asked what happend on the final drive, low lighted by an unsportsmanlike conduct call on the 3rd play skeen simply replied

"i told Al (Morrison) to shut the hell up, he and montoya had been chirping all game, we were in the hurry up and after the play montoya kinda held onto him a bit to slow us down. and Al just kept yappin and shoved him. i grabbed him to shut up. and he settled down if fact i could tell he felt bad that he lost his cool. but that last play is how you make up for it. he really did all the work, it was a 24 yard pass but 60% was him after the catch, he broke a tackle and juked montoya to score, after the play i said THATS how you shut guys up"

the games dont get any easier as 5 of the next 8 games feature opponents with winning records inculding playing Utah twice and the undefetaed Catfish in columbus

tough game went on the road and couldn't control the LOS and couldn't generate turnovers so we lost, and yay more injuries

2 heart breaking last minute losses in winable games definately need to revaluate the offesnse normally sure handed Kris burke only caught 3 of 8 passes including 2 dropped

but 2 more fgs in the red zone need to turn things up

I am relieved you lost this week as well. It will be a tight race to the finish, even though I was 8-1 just a week ago. There are multiple losses on the horizon. If I thought the beginning of the season was tough, it is nothing compared to the end. Port City. Columbus. At least.

That LA game was a must-win for some peace of mind for me. Unfortunately that means no more slip ups from here on out for any of us. An actual exciting finish in the Wild Wild West!
